Rennie Foster has been a significant force in the Western Canadian music scene for well over a decade. He has influenced many as a pioneer of the Hip Hop/B-Boy movement and later the House Music and Techno/Rave community. He completely ignores the conventional rules of genre, fusing many styles into his high-powered technical DJ sets and also his intense and prolific production work. Now working with such labels as "Monoid", "Gotham Grooves", "F Communications","Teknotika", "IngomA", "RobbAudio", "Synewave", "Rewired", "Bipolar", "Subject:Detroit", "Bear Knuckle" and "Soiree", Rennie is gaining a reputation as a truly groundbreaking artist with support from many of today`s and yesterday`s industry leaders.
Rennie, along with partner Kan Shinomura, is also known as "Futago Technologies" and runs the popular label "Futago Traxx" in partnership with Rhythmic distribution NYC. The Futago sound has been attracting a lot of attention for its original fusion of tribal percussion with classic Detroit techno feel and melody. Rennie and Futago`s work can be heard regularly in sets by such top players as Jeff Mills, Dave Clarke, Laurent Garnier, Claude Young, Derrick May and many many more. Tech-Soul mainstay Fabrice Lig recently cited Futago as "the new link between Detroit and Tokyo." In 2006, Kan and Rennie will up the anti, releasing the full length LP "Subject Tokyo" on Dj Bone`s definitive Subject:Detroit records.
However, it’s behind the turntables where the “Dubnut�? truly shines, working the ones and twos like a true craftsman. Rennie slices and dices beat driven techno, jackin` house and classic rave sounds, deep Detroit style atmospheres, otherworldly electro and ancient tribal rhythms all with an uncanny sense of programming and intense technical ability that has led him to play many venues in Canada, U.S.A, Europe and Asia alongside heavyweight DJs like Frankie Knuckles, Grandmaster Flash, John Selway, Ben Sims, Damon Wild, Ken Ishi, Johnny Fiasco, Drivetrain, C1, Cari Lekabusch, Joel Mull, Danny Tenaglia and many many more.
