The Odd Couple
Essentially a J-Pop artist, Kei Kohara is known to take house music in a direction toward the Japanese pop charts. His love for both ultra cheesy J-Pop music and all things cute make an odd pairing with his appreciation of underground house and techno music. Yet somehow he makes both his own, helped along by his years of classical music training no doubt.
Junichi Watanabe is an all together different story. With roots in the industrial and EBM scene, this Japanese artist delivers high power, hard techno with none of Kei's lightness and all the darkness left over. Relentless and forceful, noisily rhythmic, Watanabe makes no apologies.
So here we have Kei with songs titled "Endless Summer" and Junichi preferring titles such as "Screaming Fist" sharing a loop-pack title under the "Asian Dynasty" moniker. A strange coupling perhaps, but like the yin and yang, the dark compliments the light and while Kei seems to take his sound in the underground direction, Junichi meets him somewhat half-way with a solid offering of industrial edged loops useful to all sorts of dance music creators.

Canadian DJ, Lori J. Ward and her partner in crime, Teo Orlando from Slovenia, are the duo behind the Flavorite label.
